Individual Notes
• He left the luxuries of an Eastern home and life in 1833, and became one of the pioneers of the West and Medina county. He settled at the Center of Spencer, cutting his road to the spot where he built his cabin, near the house in which he died, the home of his son-in-law, W. Covern.
He had been a substantial citizen of Medina county for 40 years. He was a member of the M. E. Church, being one of the original members that formed the first class in this part of the country. For many years, from the infirmities of old age, he seldom got to the house of God; which place he loved to be. He fell asleep to Jesus, to awake in glory.
He was next to the oldest man ever buried in the Spencer cemetery.2239, p 6
