• Mark received a substantial education at the academy at St. Clair. He owned and operated a planing mill at Baraboo, Wisconsin, later engaged in the manufacturing of hubs and spokes at St. Clair, and subsequently was a capitalist in various enterprises. For years, Mr. Hopkins took an active interest in the business life of St. Clair, and served acceptably as an Alderman and as Mayor. He was choir leader of the Congregational church and a Republican.4073,4083
