Individual Notes
• The 1840 census for Ohio shows Emeline Burwell as the family head living in Huron, Ohio, a small town on the coast of Lake Erie. No males lived in her household, and four females did, one 10-15, one 15-20, one 40-50, and one 60-70. My interpretation of these numbers is that Emeline was already a widow in 1840, or else her husband Lynas was elsewhere on the census date.
3652• In 1849, Emeline’s obituary in the Hartford paper says she lived in St. Claire Co., Michigan, in the town of Newport [now Marine City]. This would mean that she moved with or soon after her daughter, to the new home Lucy had established with William Gallagher.
