• Anna Elizabeth Ermentroudt, a widow, came to America in 1739. She and her seven children came on the ship Samuel and landed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on August 27, 1739. Records show that a Mr. Hugh Percy was Master of the Samuel, and she had sailed from Rotterdam last from Deal Palatines. The Ermentroudt children and their ages were listed on the ship’s record as follows: ..., Frederick Ermentroudt, 16.610

• Johan Friedrich Ermentraudt was the 4th child of the widow Anna Elizabeth Ermentraudt, born in the Palatinate State of the Holy Roman Empire about 1722/23. He landed from the ship Samuel with his mother, brothers and sisters at Philadelphia 27 Aug 1739. He prob. was just a little past his 16th birthday, as he was considered of military age (16 and over) and required to sign the Oath of Loyalty to the English King as well as the Oath of Abjuration, swearing that he would not support any of the Pretenders to the English Throne. He lived with his mother on her farm prob. until he was married.1952
